Trinity University is pleased to offer the San Antonio First Generation Access Scholarship to select high-achieving first generation college students. A San Antonio First Generation Access Scholar will be awarded a combination of scholarships and grants equal to the full cost of tuition. The awarded scholarships and grants will come from a variety of sources, including government programs and institutional funding.

The recipients of these awards must be first generation college students and graduate from a high school in Bexar County. Since this is a full tuition award, these students will be highly competitive academically and compelling outside the classroom. As for our timeline, they must apply to Trinity using the Common Application (www.commonapp.org ) by Feb. 1. Students will be evaluated based on information provided in their application file as well as an interview process. These scholarship decisions will be made by our committee in the spring 2011 semester and recipients will be notified by April 1.

who's eligible?

  • Must graduate from a Bexar County public school
  • Must qualify for admission to Trinity University
  • Must qualify for need-based financial aid as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student             Aid(FAFSA)
  • Must be a first generation college student, defined as neither parent having earned a four-year college       degree

how to Apply

Apply for admission to Trinity University using the Common Application (www.commonapp.org) Submit the San Antonio First Generation Access Scholarship application (available online) by February 1, 2010. Submit the FAFSA (www.fafsa.ed.gov), including Trinity’s code: 003647, by February 15.

renewal criteria

The FAST Grant is renewable for up to eight semesters of undergraduate study. To ensure renewal, students must maintain a cumulative 2.0 GPA at the end of each academic year.

OUR LADY OF THE LAKE UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP

OUR LADY OF THE LAKE UNIVERSITY

Our Lady of the Lake University is pleased to offer (5) $10,000 OLLU College Extravaganza Scholarships to select students who apply. This academic scholarship is $2,500 per year, renewable each year with satisfactory academic progress. Student must enroll at OLLU for the Fall 2011 semester in order for scholarship to be valid. The CE Scholarship will be inclusive of all merit and need-based aid awarded.  Students who receive both the CE Scholarship and General Admission Scholarships will receive the larger of the two.

who's eligible?

  • Must graduate from a Bexar County high school
  • Must qualify for admission to Our Lady of the Lake University and must submit all documents including: Official high school transcript, Official ACT or SAT test scores, essay, letter of recommendation, and resume.  
  • Must enroll at OLLU for the Fall 2011 semester of full-time study in order for scholarship to be valid. Must complete the FAFSA

who's eligible?

  • You must have a cumulative transfer GPA of 2.0
  • You must have 45 or more college hours from accredited colleges or universities
  • You must be TSI compliant
  • Must have a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file

    (please visit http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ to complete the application)

  • Scholarship award is for Fall 2010 ($500 one semester only).
  • DEADLINE TO SUBMIT: April 1, 2011

UNIVERSITY OF INCARNATE WORD

If admitted to UIW, participants may be eligible for an academic award which varies in range. Students interested in an "on the spot" decision should bring their high school transcript and copy of SAT or ACT test score (official documents will be required prior to enrollment) to the College Extravaganza.

Congratulations to the award recipients. Upon selection of the college or university, students are to submit to Mr. Duran a completed La Prensa Foundation application and a check for $100 will be issued to the student’s school of choice toward books and/or supplies.

La Prensa Foundation awarded five $100 dollar scholarships at the College Extravaganza to students in the following schools:
